It took 2 years and more than 1 billion Hungarian forint but the heating system and all the doors and windows have been successfully replaced at the András Pető Faculty of the Semmelweis University. During the renovation both the educational and the conductive services were continuous. The official project-closing ceremony was held on the 9th of June.

As part of his opening speech Dr. Balázs Hankó, Deputy State Secretary for Higher Education highlighted that this is the first significant renovation of the Kútvölgyi Campus of András Pető Faculty since it has been officially opened 37 years ago, on the 16th of April, 1985. Therefore this project closing ceremony is also a celebration of tradition and innovation: qualities that Semmelweis University and its youngest faculty, the András Pető Faculty and all the conductive education also represents. For the 1.1 billion Hungarian forint, 3600 m2 new windows and doors, 2 new and modern gaz-fired condensing boilers and more than 500 new radiators were installed to provide modern, inspiring, energy efficient environment for the students, colleagues and participants of conductive education. 

“The András Pető Faculty represents such value for the Semmelweis University that we are always  feel home here – said Dr. Béla Merkely, Rector of Semmelweis University in his inaugural than he mentioned his recent visit at the faculty when he met with families taking part in conductive rehabilitation from Ukraine. “To be part of the Pető family is really honorific” – added then he emphasized how important for Semmelweis University,  the leading medical university of our region to protect and disseminate this very unique, high quality and humane method and knowledge offered by the András Pető Faculty. He expressed his pride that the university and the faculty have been strengthening eachother on the field of education, research and healing for 5 years now. The current project is successfully providing more comfortable, safe, modern and sustainable environment for the colleagues and students.

“When this energy efficiency project was accepted in 2017, the whole leadership of the university supported us” – remembered Dr. Andrea Dr. Tenk Miklósné Zsebe, Dean of András Pető Faculty. The renovation has started in 2020 and with a lot of compromising and cooperation both the conductive services – for 100 children and 80 adults – and the higher education programmes could continue their operations. The Dean expressed his gratitude for the students and the parents for their patience and understanding. The result of the current project shows how the University is a good master of the building and how it cares for the future. – she added. The modernization of the heating system means lower upkeep and more eco-friendly education for the 350 students and 40 teachers of the faculty. For this new environment Dr. Andrea Dr. Tenkné Zsebe was thankful for the leadership of the university.

 

The project was suppoerted by the Hungarian Government in the frame of the Szécheny 2020 programme with 761 973 800 Hungarian forint. The rest of the budget was financed from the Semmelweis University own budget and other Hungarian sources.
