Do you have a passion for cardiovascular research?
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women, making it arguably the number one health problem in the world. As a consequence, the need for well-trained physicians and biomedical scientists who conduct research aimed at improving cardiovascular health is greater than ever. The Vascular Biology Center (VBC) at Augusta University, USA invites you to explore your interests in cardiovascular research through a PhD training experience or shorter research training opportunities.
Program information
The VBC offers biomedical graduate students a highly diversified and rigorous research program that investigates a broad range of cardiovascular diseases, including heart failure, atherosclerosis, aneurysms, obesity, diabetes and metabolic diseases, high blood pressure, retinopathy, kidney disease, acute lung injury, pulmonary hypertension, thromboembolism, myocardial infarction and cardiomyopathy. You will be guided by an international team of established, well-funded investigators using state-of-the-art equipment and novel techniques to study mechanisms of disease in animals, cells and human tissue and at the molecular level. We welcome motivated and creative students, trained in either biology, biochemistry, pharmacy, medicine or chemistry, who have a heart and a passion for research.
