At the end of July 2025, a one-and-a-half-week summer school on medical data science was held at Semmelweis University, organized by the newly established Institute of Biostatistics and Network Science, led by Roland Molontay. Participants took part in both theoretical and practical training, gaining insight into applications of network science, data visualization, and machine and deep learning in biomedical research. As part of the program, students worked with real datasets in Python-based workshops, gaining hands-on experience with modern analytical methods. The training was delivered by international and Hungarian experts such as Katy Börner, Kosmas Kepesidis, András Gézsi, and Gergely Palla. At the end of the school, students were divided into groups and prepared a joint project, which they presented to a jury composed of the instructors. Our Institute was represented at the summer school by Máté Váczy-Földi, bioinformatics PhD student.
