This year Prof. Péter Ferdinandy, the head of the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy has received the Issekutz Award granted by the Hungarian Society for Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology. This award has been named in honour of Prof. Béla Issekutz, the establisher of modern Hungarian pharmacology.

In his commemorative lecture Prof. Péter Ferdinandy has outlined the possible reasons underlying the lack of effective cardioprotective drugs, and proposed the use of omics methodologies to identify novel therapeutic targets.
