STUDENT COUNSELLING

Coming to university can be a very exciting and rewarding time. It can also be a time of change and stress, especially when you left your home country and have to face a new culture, language and environment. There may be a whole range of difficulties and dilemmas affecting your life and studies.

Stress can be the result of either past or present experiences. The University Counselling Service is one of the services which are there to help. The counsellor is a trained person to talk about the issues that are important for you.

Erasmus

The program enables students, educators and other staff to gain educational, professional and cultural experience in another European country, encourages cooperation and strategic partnerships between higher education institutions, promotes policy reforms and the modernization of education systems.

The University has various student groups, each of which organises a variety of scientific, cultural, and sporting events. The Students’ Union (HÖK), primarily involved in representing interests, also takes an active role in organising a number of different events.

How can I use the library?

On this page you can apply for a library card. You have to log in with your SEKA username and password.

It is important to provide a photo for the library card. This must be done on IOS devices during registration, you can also select a photo taken previously on another type of device.

VPN access for students

If you want to use the university’s database and journals for research, you can set up the library’s VPN connection at this link.

Book loan

During your university studies, there may be books that you want to borrow from the library for the duration of your studies. You can do this in our libraries, you can read more about the borrowing process on this page.

Besides being an important contributor to the institute’s cultural life, the Medic Orchestra of the Semmelweis University has given successful concerts in Bayreuth, in Switzerland and at the Liszt Academy of Budapest, too.

Semmelweis Kiadó

During your studies, you can purchase more educational materials and literature from Semmelweis Kiadó.
When you pick it up in person at the store located in the Theoretical Block (NET) on Nagyvárad tér, you will receive a 10% discount as a student of Semmelweis University.

Semmelweis Shop

Did they bump into you in the hallway wearing a really cool college logo embroidered sweatshirt that you really liked? Do you want to buy a university badge? Even a tie that brings good luck?
You can order all of these on the Semmelweis Shop website, or you can even buy them in person at the EOK.

Sports at the university

Semmelweis University offers a wide range of sporting opportunities for students. Physical education classes are compulsory at most faculties during the first four semesters. The various training sessions (water polo, volleyball, basketball, handball) and optional sports activities (judo, aerobics, yoga, tennis, frisbee, zumba) further add to the variety of options. P.E. classes last 60 minutes and are held once a week. They offer basic and intermediate training in various sports.

Semmelweis University pays dedicated attention to the recognition of talented students, their support and scientific education. Organised talent support programs are realised in colleges for advanced studies and within the framework of the talent support programs.
