The main activity of the Oral Pathology Research Group is the histopathological and molecular diagnostics of the oral cavity and head and neck region, which includes the comprehensive processing and evaluation of cytology and biopsy samples as well as surgical specimens.

Our primary research focus is the investigation of progression, prognostic, and predictive biomarkers of recurrent oral squamous cell carcinomas. Our goal is to identify molecular and immunohistochemical markers that help assess tumor aggressiveness, estimate the risk of recurrence, and contribute to personalized treatment decisions.

Additional research collaborations include: – Diagnostics and malignant transformation risk assessment of lichen planus and lichenoid lesions; – Identification of progression markers and predictive factors in oral leukoplakia; – Examination of bone substitute materials and biomaterial implants.

The research group considers the integration of clinical and pathological data and the support of multidisciplinary patient care as key priorities.
