On February 27, 2026, Semmelweis University once again celebrated Hungarian Parasport Day with a showcase of various parasports, organized by the Physical Education and Sport Center and the András Pető Faculty. The event aimed to provide students from all university faculties with a closer look at specific parasport disciplines and the opportunity to gain first-hand experience.

During the program, participants could try out six different sports under the guidance of experienced para-athletes. Wheelchair fencers and boccia players from the Pető Sports Association took an active role in the demonstrations.

The event opened with a welcome from Kornélia Várszegi, the lead organizer. Following this, Rector Dr. Béla Merkely emphasized in his greeting that supporting sports and student physical activity—whether in elite sports, mass sports, or parasports—is of paramount importance to the University. As part of the opening ceremony, the cheerleading team from the András Pető Faculty’s Conductive Practice Primary School gave a performance. Representing the Faculty, Vice-Rector Dr. Éva Feketéné Szabó, Director of the Conductive Pedagogical Center, and Dean Dr. Andrea Zsebe, Dean of the Faculty also attended the event.
