Anna Klein, a former Assistant Professor at the Pető András Faculty of Semmelweis University, participated in several international projects and played a significant role in the worldwide dissemination of conductive education.
In the United States, through collaboration between Aquinas College in Michigan and the Pető András Faculty, she was one of the leading experts in the field of practical training for more than fifteen years. Through her dedicated work, she significantly contributed to ensuring that students acquired a solid professional foundation during their studies and, upon graduation, could confidently apply the principles of conductive pedagogy in North American practice.
“As a tribute to her work and in loving memory, her former students and colleagues planted an apple tree and dedicated a memorial plaque on August 5, 2025, in Grand Rapids.”
In classical pedagogical tradition, the apple given to a teacher symbolizes respect and gratitude. In the 19th and 20th centuries, American children often brought apples to their teachers, as it was one of the simplest yet most valued gifts. For this reason, the apple has remained in the United States an enduring symbol of teachers and education, representing knowledge, nurturing, and respect for educators.
The solemn commemoration paid a worthy tribute to Anna Klein’s professional and human legacy, while also expressing the community’s gratitude.
