Dr. László Matos, Vice-Dean of Education, and Szabolcs Tiger, Dean’s Representative for International Relations, from the András Pető Faculty of Semmelweis University, recently embarked on a significant visit to Kerbala, Iraq. Accompanied by colleagues from Semmelweis Premium Ltd., their mission was to explore the potential for establishing an off-campus education program in the city.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by the University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa, where they spent three days engaging in productive discussions and exploring the university’s facilities. Key meetings were held with the university’s President, Dr. Ibrahim Saeed Al-Hayawi, Vice-president for Administrative Affairs, Nawfal Mohammed Al-Arajee, Vice-president for Scientific Research, Waqed Hammed Hassan and with the Dean of the Medical Faculty, Ali Abed Saadoon al abid and other relevant officials. These discussions centered around the feasibility of implementing an off-campus education program and the potential benefits it would offer to both institutions and their students.
The visit also included a tour of the University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa’s campus, providing the delegation with firsthand insights into the university’s infrastructure and academic environment. A reception was held in honor of the visitors, fostering a positive and collaborative atmosphere.
The successful visit to Kerbala marks a significant step forward in the potential development of an off-campus education program. This initiative has the potential to strengthen academic ties between Hungary and Iraq, offering students in Kerbala new opportunities for higher education and contributing to the growth of both countries’ educational sectors.
