Dóra Szabó graduated as a medical doctor in 1996 and received her PhD degree in 2002 at the Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary.
Her research topics cover the study of the human microbiome and the antibiotic resistance mechanisms and molecular epidemiology of Gram-negative nosocomial pathogens. Furthermore, her in vivo investigations were modelling treatment options in infections caused by multidrugresistant bacteria. She held a postdoc position at the University of Pittsburgh, Medical School, PA, USA and she had scientific cooperation with the US Department of Veteran Affairs, Medical Center Cleveland, OH, USA. Her research group has ongoing cooperation with the Temple University, Philadelphia, PA, USA, and with the University of Verona, Verona, Italy.
Prof. Dr. Szabó serves as the Editor-in-Chief of Acta Microbiologica et Immunologica Hungarica, a Medical journal in Akadémiai Kiadó’s portfolio AKJournals.
Dr. Szabó was awarded with the Doctor of Science degree by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 2012. Currently, she serves as director of the Institute of Medical Microbiology, Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary.
