Dear Students,

The Experimental Research Laboratory  of Heart and Vascular Center (Városmajor) is announcing a call for students to perform scientific student activities (TDK).

The research team has a broad scientific profile. Students can be active participants in the everyday life of a unique hemodynamic laboratory on the Hungarian stage. They can gain insight into the course of in vivo experiments in large and small animal models and are provided with an opportunity to learn how to measure cardiac function using the latest, cutting edge experimental methodologies (speckle-tracking echocardiography and invasive pressure volume analysis).

Our translational studies focus on the development of heart failure and the cardioprotective effect of pharmaceutical or surgical interventions. In order to explore the mechanisms, it is possible to learn and independently perform in vitro molecular biological methods (qRT-PCR, western blot, immunohistochemistry) on human tissues of the clinic’s Transplantation Biobank in addition to animal experimental samples.

As a significant part of the projects are carried out in collaboration with the proteomics laboratory of Albert-Ludwigs University in Freiburg, we provide an opportunity to learn the basics of omics research and big data analysis as well.

The research group supports the participation of its diligent and persistent students in national and international conferences. Furthermore their lectures have been well received year after year in institutional and national TDK sections.

Skills that might give you an edge in the admission process:

– Exhaustive knowledge of relevant subjects (physiology, molecular biology, biostatistics).

– Ability to work independently and responsibly after initial training.

– Willingness to set up and optimize new experimental methods.

– Preference will be given to students starting their 5th or 7th semester in the academic year 2021/2022.

Applications are welcome in electronic form at radovitstamas@yahoo.com and barta.balint@gmail.com, accompanied by a CV and motivational letter.

Deadline: 31.10.2021

We are looking forward to working with you!
