Admission process
The admission process for applicants to the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship is the same as that of other applicants, BUT the application period is different (see above), and the foundation managing the scholarship (Tempus) requires additional documents for the application (see below).
Letter of acceptance
Mandatory document for SH application: acceptance letter from Semmelweis University’s Doctoral College (applicants without an acceptance letter cannot take the SH entrance exam).
How to get the letter of acceptance
-
First, you must select the research topic for which you would like to apply for one of the programs of the Doctoral Divisions. The list of PhD topics and supervisors that are available for international applicants can be reached from the pages of the divisions.
-
SH applicants have to contact the PhD supervisors of the Doctoral Division directly (the email address of the supervisor’s is in the same list). A professional CV, the list of scientific publications and a research plan(1-5 pages) is to be sent to the supervisor so that she/he can decide on the acceptance.
-
If a supervisor supports the applicant’s research plan, a conditional acceptance letter can be sent to the applicant (due to the SH regulation SH applicants can participate in the entrance process with a conditional acceptance letter). Please note, that the supporting letter does not mean the admission to the Doctoral College. Please use this Sample declaration letter of acceptance!
- The admission process follows the revision of the uploaded documents. In the admission process the applicant has to take part in an online video interview organised by the Doctoral College. The date and time of the entrance interview is sent by the Doctoral College via email (the interviews are expected in April and May)
- during the the interview the members of the entrance board revise the thorough knowlegde of the applicant on the research field, his/her technical and language skills
- there are no prelisted topics available in the entrance process for the doctoral candidates, since their research related knowledge is in the focus of the interview
- 56 points out of 100 are the minimum to be supported by the Doctoral School
No information can be given about the awarded stipendium by the Doctoral College until the final decision of Tempus Foundation, since the sendig countries make the final lists of the supported applicants not the host institutions (the final decision of the sending countries is expected till the end of July), hence please do not send enquiries to the university till then.
