The cardiology unit of the Department deals with the full spectrum of non-invasive cardiology. Due to the nature of our Department, we carry out scientific, primarily clinical studies in the frontier areas of cardiology.
In addition to heart failure research, we are also involved in onco-cardiology, where both prospective and large retrospective studies are ongoing, and in cardiac amyloidosis, where we are the most experienced centre in the country and regularly publish our results.
Other areas of scientific interest include the improvement of patient selection for cardiac resynchronisation therapy, the development of new diagnostic ECG criteria in pulmonary embolism and the differential diagnosis of wide QRS tachycardia.
Our “scientific research students” are conducting research in the field of atrial fibrillation, infective endocarditis under the guidance of our physicians.
The department participates in a number of international, multicentre, double-blind, randomised, clinical drug trials in heart failure, hypercholesterolaemia, cardiac amyloidosis and anticoagulation.
