Project Description:

Kata is a PhD student at the Centre for Translational Medicine and part-time clinical doctor at the Department of Oto- Rhino- Laryngology and Head- and Neck Surgery in Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Hospital. Her main interest is otology and middle ear surgery, treating both forms of chronic otitis media, cholesteatoma and mesotympanic type with perforation on the tympanic membrane. From the scientific point of view, she focuses on the improvement of middle ear surgery outcomes in chronic otitis media by comparing different surgical techniques and by analyzing the predictive factors of the surgery. Kata is currently working on an interventional metaanalysis, comparing the effectiveness of mastoid obliteration versus the conventional canal wall up technique in cholesteatoma surgery. She works on another meta-analysis about the predictive factors of type I tympanoplasty, which is the intervention for closing a perforation on the tympanic membrane.
