On October 21, the Semmelweis University delegation met with the leadership of the School of Stomatology (Stomatological Hospital) of Shandong University, where discussions focused on establishing a long-term institutional partnership covering several areas of cooperation. The Chinese institution was represented, among others, by Dean Shaohua Ge and Associate Deans Fulan Wei and Qiang Feng.

During the talks, the parties reviewed opportunities for student and faculty mobility, joint training programmes, as well as clinical and scientific cooperation. Particular attention was given to potential joint research projects, especially in the fields of tissue regeneration, biomaterials and orthodontics, as well as opportunities for joint publications and applications for international research funding. Visiting faculty programmes, joint curriculum development, academic conferences and the exchange of clinical experience were also discussed.

During the meeting, the parties began preparations for the signing of a cooperation agreement that could provide a framework for future educational, research and clinical collaboration. As part of the professional programme, the delegation also visited several departments of the university’s dental clinic and its teaching laboratory, gaining an insight into the institution’s clinical activities and practice-oriented education.

Another important stop of the professional visit was Shandong First Medical University, where representatives of Semmelweis University held discussions with the institution’s international affairs leadership and representatives of several faculties and professional fields. The talks focused primarily on student mobility, short-term professional programmes and clinical training opportunities.

The discussions also covered possible cooperation in the fields of pharmaceutical sciences, nursing, medical imaging, dentistry and rehabilitation.

As part of the visit, the delegation toured the university’s Medical Science and Technology Innovation Center, its dental education facilities and the laboratories of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The professional discussions helped identify potential frameworks for future student exchanges and short-term training programmes between the two universities.

The delegation also visited the Jinan Medical Center, one of the region’s major hubs for healthcare development, medical research and innovation. During the visit, the centre’s leadership presented its activities, development priorities and infrastructure.

The professional discussions addressed potential areas of cooperation in medical diagnostics, clinical research, biotechnology and medical technology innovation. Participants discussed opportunities for technology transfer, joint research projects and international professional exchange. The visit gave Semmelweis University representatives the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the centre’s operations and the region’s healthcare innovation initiatives.
