Between 16 and 20 September 2026, a delegation from Semmelweis University visited Shanghai and Hangzhou to continue professional discussions with Chinese universities, hospitals and industry partners in the field of dentistry and oral medicine. The visit focused on dental education, joint research, clinical and industry cooperation, and the application of artificial intelligence in education.
The first stop of the professional programme was Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, where the delegation paid an official visit on behalf of Semmelweis University on 16 September. The meeting was particularly significant as it was the second professional visit of Semmelweis University to Shanghai Jiao Tong University and its affiliated clinical network, reflecting the increasingly close and constructive relationship between the institutions.
The discussions provided an opportunity for the two sides to build on the dialogue launched during earlier meetings and to exchange views on potential future scientific cooperation. The parties introduced their respective research areas and explored possible connections in clinical research, dental education, temporomandibular joint-related studies, and professional exchange.
Semmelweis University expressed its appreciation for the warm welcome and the fruitful professional discussions. The visit further deepened mutual understanding of the institutions’ educational, clinical and research activities, and laid the groundwork for continued academic and medical cooperation between Hungary and China.
As part of the exchange, Semmelweis University also invited experts from Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital to participate in a digital academic conference to be held in Hungary on 20–21 November 2026. The conference will provide an opportunity for Chinese colleagues to share the advanced technologies, clinical experience and treatment approaches of Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery.
The visit to Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital marked another important step in strengthening the professional relationship between Semmelweis University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. Building on the positive cooperation established during previous encounters, the meeting opened new possibilities for future research, education and clinical collaboration, while further supporting Hungarian-Chinese academic and medical exchange.
