On 24 June 2026, Semmelweis University welcomed a delegation from the International Office of the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná – PUCPR), Brazil. The purpose of the visit was to explore potential areas of cooperation between the two institutions, with a particular focus on student and staff mobility, as well as opportunities for short-term clinical placements.

The PUCPR delegation was represented by Renata Cruz, Senior Analyst for International Agreements, and Ana Marques, Senior International Education Analyst. On behalf of Semmelweis University, the guests were welcomed by Levente Béla Vágó, Deputy Director of the Directorate of International Relations and Alumni Affairs, and Gréta Petrás, International Relations Officer.

During the meeting, both institutions presented their educational, research and international activities. The participants exchanged information on their academic programmes, international partnerships and mobility schemes, and discussed potential forms of bilateral cooperation. Particular attention was given to the development of student and faculty exchange opportunities, as well as the possibility of introducing one-month clinical placements.

The Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná is one of Brazil’s leading private universities. With its comprehensive portfolio in the health sciences, strong research focus and extensive international partner network, the institution shares several strategic priorities with Semmelweis University. The meeting strengthened the relationship between the two universities and laid the groundwork for future cooperation in education and international mobility.
