As part of its professional tour in China, the delegation of Semmelweis University visited Zhejiang University School of Stomatology on 8 June. The visit was a significant follow-up to the meeting held at Semmelweis University in October 2025, when a delegation from Zhejiang University Stomatology School/Hospital visited Budapest and the two institutions signed a cooperation agreement.
The return visit marked an important step in deepening the partnership between the two universities and in exploring the practical implementation of the cooperation, particularly in the fields of dental education, clinical training, student exchange, research collaboration, and international professional mobility.
Zhejiang University is one of China’s most prestigious and oldest universities, with historical roots dating back to the founding of Qiushi Academy in 1897. Based in Hangzhou, the university has developed into a major comprehensive research institution with a strong international profile. Zhejiang University is ranked 39th in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026, reflecting its outstanding academic and research performance.
The professional programme began with a meeting at Zhejiang University School of Stomatology, where the Semmelweis delegation was welcomed by representatives of the host institution. The hosting team included Professor Mengjie Wu, Vice Dean of Stomatology Hospital, Zhejiang University and Vice Dean of the School of Stomatology, Zhejiang University; Mrs. Zhou Huan, Deputy Director of the Development and Liaison Department; Professor Qianming Chen, former Dean of the School of Stomatology; Mr. Peng Deng, Researcher; Mr. Lingkai Su, Deputy Director of the Talent Office; and Ms. Chenlu Gan, International Affairs Coordinator.
Semmelweis University was represented by Levente Béla Vágó, Deputy Director of International Relations and Alumni Affairs, Laura Ződi International Relations Expert, and Dr. Xinda Li. During the meeting, the parties reviewed the next steps of the cooperation launched by the agreement signed in Budapest, and discussed future opportunities for academic, clinical and professional exchange.
Following the discussion, the delegation toured the 12th floor of the institution, including the History Wall, the Internet Center and the laboratories. The visit provided insight into the School of Stomatology’s institutional development, digital infrastructure and research environment.
The programme continued with a visit to the outpatient clinic and oral surgery wards, where the Semmelweis delegation gained an overview of the institution’s clinical activities and patient care practices. The visit offered an opportunity to better understand the clinical strengths of Zhejiang University School of Stomatology and to identify possible areas for future professional exchange.

The final part of the visit included the ground floor highlights of the institution, including the Outpatient Service Center, Ziqiang Square, Discipline Footprints, Taishan Rock and the ZJU Dental Forest. The programme concluded with a working lunch on the 11th floor, providing an opportunity for further informal discussion between the two sides.
The visit to Zhejiang University School of Stomatology was an important milestone in the partnership between Semmelweis University and Zhejiang University. By returning the visit of the Zhejiang delegation to Budapest, Semmelweis University reaffirmed its commitment to developing the cooperation launched by the 2025 agreement and to building long-term academic and clinical links with one of China’s leading dental education and healthcare institutions.
