The event hosted by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Budapest on May 22, 2024, featured discussions on the use of cutting-edge technologies in the healthcare sector. Semmelweis University was represented by high-ranked experts.
The delegation of Semmelweis University included distinguished experts such as Prof. Miklós Szócska, Dean of the Faculty of Health and Public Administration, and Dr. Pál Maurovich-Horvat, Director of the Medical Imaging Centre, and Chairman of the Department of Radiology, Dr. Zoltán Vokó, Director of the Centre for Health Technology Assessment and Analysis and Dr. Zsolt Bagyura, Director of the Institute of Clinical Data Service.
The keynote presentation given by Prof. Miklós Szócska was followed by a comprehensive and intensive discussion on the use of artificial intelligence and virtual reality technologies in the healthcare sector, and the certification and regulation of new health technologies.
The Czech delegation comprised Jan Gábriš, Deputy Director of the National Digital Health Centre at the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic and Assoc. Prof. Ondrej Volny, Deputy Head for Science and Research at the Neurology Clinic of University Hospital Ostrava and Director of the Center for Medical Research at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ostrava.
Representatives from innovative companies such as Carebot, Aireen, Virtual Lab, Virtual Life, OR-CZ, and Daktela were also present at the discussion. There are several topics that the Czech delegation covered: AI for cancer detection in radiology (x-ray and mammography), AI for detection of diabetic retinopathy, VR for physiotherapy, VR in medical training, AI for communication with clients, AI and VR in neurology.
The event was organized by the representatives of the Czech Embassy and the Directorate of International Relations of Semmelweis University.
