Within its competence and as soon as it is professionally justified, Semmelweis University provides so-called release tests to its employees and students, who have been in compulsory home quarantine after testing positive for coronavirus. According to the procedure issued by the National Public Health Centre, compulsory home quarantine can be lifted after obtaining negative samples form the respiratory tract on three consecutive days. The so-called release tests may be performed one week after the first positive test in asymptomatic cases, while in other cases one week after the termination of symptoms.
Sampling shall be performed in the home of the concerned patients in appropriate protective equipment and the samples shall be analysed in the designated coronavirus laboratory of Semmelweis University. The necessary vehicles are provided by the Logistics Department of the Directorate of Services, sampling is performed by the staff of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery and the procedure is coordinated by the Department of Hospital Hygiene.
With this measure, Semmelweis University intends to help its employees and student to be released from quarantine as soon as possible, while strictly adhering to the professional guidelines and the protocol of the National Public Health Centre. The concerned citizens of Semmelweis University are contacted by the staff of the Department of Hospitaly Hygiene.
