Important! Only Semmelweis Citizens (employees, students, alumni) or the partner/spouse of Semmelweis Citizens can register for prenatal care on this platform!
Please note that booking an appointment for prenatal care does not include booking an appointment for a genetic ultrasound! A separate appointment must be booked for a genetic ultrasound at the Pregnant Outpatient Clinic of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic on Baross Street.
Pregnancy is a wonderful time in life, when a new life begins to unfold under the mother’s heart. During this period, it is particularly important that pregnant women are surrounded by professionals who, with excellent expertise and an empathetic attitude, help families to experience a calm period of waiting for their baby. In this spirit, the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic, Baross Street department, will provide prenatal care for staff and students from November, within the framework of the Family-Friendly University Program.
The Family-Friendly University Center has recently received many inquiries, which immediately made us understand that there is a huge demand for a time slot that is exclusively reserved for the prenatal care of Semmelweis mothers. The recognition was followed by discussions and then actions, and in the leaders and specialists of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic, we found a partner who truly considers the well-being and empathetic care of Semmelweis Citizens to be their heart’s desire.
The practice is led by obstetrician-gynecologist Dr. Boglárka Fehér, who considers it her profession to protect expectant mothers and their fetuses:
I knew I wanted to be a doctor when I was 10 years old. Thanks to its diversity, I find a lifelong challenge in the profession, which has allowed me to turn my work into both my hobby and my profession. Maternity care is particularly close to my heart, as here I can protect the health of both the child and the mother, thus contributing to the formation of a family.”
-said the doctor.
We welcome our colleagues and students to attend prenatal care on Fridays between 9 am and 12 pm at the Baross Street Department of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic. (Pre-registration is required, you can find the appointment booking form at the bottom of the page!)
Pregnancy can have many symptoms, including nausea, vomiting, breast tenderness, and the most obvious: missed periods.
If the above symptoms occur, it is worth taking a pregnancy test. The tests used today, which can also be used at home, are modern enough to detect pregnancy in the early stages. Then, if the test is positive, it is recommended to confirm the pregnancy with a gynecological examination.
-explains Dr. Boglárka Fehér.
The ideal time to visit a gynecologist is the third week after a missed period (which is the 7th week of pregnancy). It is worth scheduling the first ultrasound at this time, as the embryo can be seen from the 7th week. Vaginal ultrasound is performed until the 12th-13th week of pregnancy, after which the examination is performed with an abdominal ultrasound probe. If you notice a problem or have any complaints before the 7th week check-up, do not hesitate to see a specialist immediately!
The goal of prenatal care is to monitor the development of the fetus and the health of the pregnant woman, as well as to prepare for childbirth. The course of care is prescribed by professional protocols, with specific mandatory examinations, taking into account individual and special circumstances (twin pregnancy, maternal age, maternal and fetal diseases, medical history).
