The Dentistry Group is dedicated to improving oral health through cutting-edge research aimed at the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of dental and jaw diseases. Their focus areas include oral and maxillofacial surgery, periodontal regeneration, endodontics, restorative dentistry, the systemic effects of the oral microbiome, and the development of novel dental biomaterials.
The group comprises 17 students, including 5 MD–PhD candidates. Their research fields span maxillofacial surgery, endodontics, paediatric dentistry, temporomandibular joint disorders, and prosthodontics. Their projects employ the latest advances in digital dentistry, laser technology, and biomedicine.
The team is led by Gábor Varga, Gábor Gerber, and János Vág, and their work is supported by a broad expert network in the fields of prosthodontics, endodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, gnathology, orthodontics, paediatric dentistry, and oral biology. Methodological support is provided by senior SMS members Alex Schulze Wenning and Xinyi Qian, and junior SMS members Jimin Lee, Dávid Laczkó, Lőrinc Frivaldszky, and Lili Gulyás. Statistical analyses are coordinated by Bence Szabó. Together, they strive to push the boundaries of dentistry to improve patient quality of life and care.
