Scientific Editor Postgraduate Training

Starting February 2026, the Institute of Languages for Specific Purposes of Semmelweis University is launching a fully online, two-semester program focused on the skills needed for editing English scientific journals, articles, theses, and more. Learn academic writing, scientific editing, and relevant terminology.

Schedule:
Fridays: 3pm–8pm (EST)
Saturdays: 8am–3pm (EST)

Requirements:
– BA/BSc degree
– C1 English certificate or pass a pre-admission test

Aims of the program:
– understand the rules and tools for creating cohesion and coherence,
– paraphrase scientific texts effectively,
– use a wide range of expressions typical of English scientific writing,
– learn basic, field-specific terminology,
– identify characteristics of different scientific genres,
– evaluate the structural, linguistic, and terminological quality of scientific texts,
– handle in-text references and compile accurate reference lists,
– plan and manage editorial tasks efficiently.
