The primary purpose of the István Szívós Sports Scholarship is to support and motivate students who are active in competitive sports and help them achieve outstanding sports results while pursuing their studies

 

  1. Eligibility criteria
  • active student status;
  • completion of the required credits in the last 2 active semesters;
  • one year or longer Semmelweis University Sports Club (SE SK) and division membership;
  • active membership status of a Semmelweis University Sports Club division at the time of application and during the period of the scholarship, if awarded;
  • active participation in sports competitions as an SE SK Member;
  • attendance and exemplary participation at training sessions as set by the coach;
  • applicants for the “Good Student – Good Athlete” or “Ferenc Csík Scholarship” are not eligible.
  1. Contents of the Application
  • the completed Application Form,
  • confirmation of an active student status,
  • CV and motivational letter,
  • the recommendation and letter of support by the student’s coach and head of the division,
  • SE SK membership card and proof of fee payments,
  • two records of sports competition performance,
  • certificate by the student’s sports club containing sports achievements.
  1. Submission and evaluation

The Call for Applications is issued by the Rector of Semmelweis University, Dr Béla Merkely

The Application is to be submitted in Neptun with the deadline between 12 p.m. on 14 march 2024 – 22 march 2024.

The evaluation deadline is 28. march. Notification to the students awarded shall be sent electronically only, through Neptun.

  1. Evaluation criteria:

Based on the documents submitted, the committee will establish a ranking regarding performance in training and in the university championships, and regarding the recommendation of the coach or head of the sports division.

The scholarship of 150,000 HUF will be awarded on the basis of proven achievement in a first or second class competition series announced by the sports federation, a place 1–3 in a university championship, or a result in a top competition event in the professional judgement of the Evaluation Committee.

  1. The amount of the scholarship

Based on the student’s sports achievements and on the recommendation of the coach and the head of the sports division, the following 3 sums may be awarded for a five-month long period:

  • 150,000 HUF per month
  • 100,000 HUF per month
  • 50,000 HUF per month
  1. Publication of the results

The list of the scholarship winners shall be published on the website of the Physical Education and Sport Center and the University 10 days after the submission deadline.

  1. Scholarship disbursement

The Evaluation Committee shall notify the Directorate of Educational Networking Management about the result of the application within 3 days of the evaluation of the application, which shall ensure the disbursement of the scholarship to the student in the schedule and amount decided by the Committee, by the 10th day of the respective month at the latest. If the application procedure requires a payment different from the one provided for in this paragraph, the Directorate shall disburse the scholarship to the student within 15 days of receipt of the decision.
