PREDOCTORAL SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION For the Academic Year 2025/2026 – First Semester
Objective:
To support the PhD degree attainment of students who completed their doctoral training in the academic years 2023/2024 or 2024/2025 and already have publications.
The current scholarship applies to the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic year (September 1, 2025 – January 31, 2026).
Eligibility:
- PhD and MD-PhD students who obtained their absolutorium in the academic years 2023/2024 or 2024/2025
- Those who already have publications that can be used toward obtaining the PhD degree
- Those who will not defend their doctoral dissertation by September 15, 2025
- Those who do not receive other predoctoral or doctoral candidate funding (incompatibility with EKÖP grants)
- Applicants must commit to submitting their dissertation within 12 months, with a repayment obligation in case of non-compliance
Not eligible:
- Students who completed their doctoral training and received a university predoctoral scholarship in the 2024/2025 academic year
Form of support:
- Monthly payment of HUF 180,000 for 5 months, which may be extended by an additional 7 months depending on performance and available resources of the Doctoral School
Expectations for scholarship recipients within 12 months of receiving the support:
- Fulfillment of all requirements for obtaining the PhD degree (see Doctoral Regulations)
- Completion of the internal defense of the doctoral dissertation
- Submission of the doctoral dissertation to the Doctoral Office
- In case of non-compliance, a study contract must be signed with Semmelweis University stipulating repayment of the support
Application procedure:
Applications must be submitted via the online platform at https://palyazz.semmelweis.hu by August 24, 2025. Applicants will receive confirmation via email.
Decisions are expected by September 10, 2025, and applicants will be notified via email.
Applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.
Please note that providing false information in the application will result in disqualification from all calls announced by the Doctoral School.

Required documents:
- MTMT data sheet completed and certified by the Central Library
- Details and proof of acceptance of articles accepted for publication
- Copies of the title pages of publications
- A short work plan for the support period, including a summary of results so far (max. 2 pages)
- A statement from the supervisor supporting the application and confirming the feasibility of meeting the application requirements
- Declaration of the Student’s Employment Status
