Purpose of the Scholarship:
To support the scientific advancement of MD‑PhD students who are not receiving state scholarships, based on excellence, with the aim of increasing the number and quality of doctoral degree completions.
Available Scholarship:
- State-funded PhD scholarship
Eligible Applicants
All MD‑PhD students who hold Hungarian or European Union citizenship and who are currently not enrolled as state-funded PhD students may apply.
Requirements for Evaluation
- Hungarian or European Union citizenship
- Proof of outstanding scientific activity
Evaluation Criteria – Scientific Activity of the Applicant
- First-author publications classified as D1, Q1, or Q2 (based on SCImago ranking)
- Co‑author publications classified as D1, Q1, or Q2 (based on SCImago ranking)
- 1st–2nd place or special prize at OTDK
- 1st–2nd–3rd prize in the Rector’s Competition
Conditions for Disbursement of the Scholarship
The scholarship recipient undertakes to:
- Present their research results at the annually organized PhD Scientific Days
- Fulfil the requirements for obtaining the degree and submit their doctoral dissertation by the legally defined deadline (within three years after the comprehensive exam)
Documents to Be Submitted
- Publication list printed from MTMT and certified by the Central Library, indicating impact factor, citations, and journal rankings (based on SCImago ranking: D1, Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4)
- For already accepted but not yet MTMT‑listed publications: the acceptance letter and a copy of the article’s title page
- Copy of certificates proving placements achieved at OTDK and the Rector’s Competition

Deadline: 31 January 2026
Applicants will receive confirmation of receipt by email. If no confirmation is received within 7 days after submission, please notify us at: csorba-jonas.csilla@semmelweis.hu
Applicants will be informed of the results by email by 28 February.
Applications submitted after the deadline cannot be accepted. We would like to draw applicants’ attention to the fact that providing false information in the application documentation will result in exclusion from all competitions announced by the Doctoral School.
