Doctoral College, Semmelweis University announces admission for both state-granted and self-financed PhD programs (excluding the MD-PhD program), as well as participation in the doctoral program as an individual degree candidate, starting from September 1, 2025 within the divisions of the Doctoral College.

Based on the submitted information, the Financial Office will issue an invoice and send it to the applicant, who can then complete the bank transfer referencing that invoice.
Important notice: If the company’s bank account number is not listed in the official company registry, a signed PDF statement from the company confirming the bank account number must also be submitted.
For payment via bank transfer, the bank receipt must be uploaded to the application platform and sent to the Financial Office. (titkarsag.digh@semmelweis.hu).
Finalizing the application is only possible after uploading the bank receipt.

If the diploma is in a foreign language, its certified translation or official recognition document; in some cases, a copy of the equivalency decision by the relevant ministry

If the applicant doesn’t yet have a university degree, a transcript of completed exams (gradebook or credit certificate printed from NEPTUN)

Proof of at least B2 level complex state-recognized language exam (“C” type intermediate), or equivalent certificate; alternatively, confirmation from the supervisor or the Director of Professional Language that the language level meets research needs

Brief research plan (2–3 pages) with a topic outline; if applying to a named supervisor/topic, the plan should include the supervisor’s signed approval

Admissions interview dates: Expected to take place in late August or early September 2025
Enrollment condition for individual candidates: The doctoral program may only begin if the applicant successfully passes a complex exam following the admission interview in late August or early September.
The theoretical part of the complex exam consists of one major subject and one minor subject, while the practical part involves a brief presentation of the research project.

Please note: To begin doctoral studies a certificate of good conduct issued within the past three months are required. If admitted documents must be presented during registration in September 2025.
