Vascular Neurology and Neurointervention

Credit value:   3
Semester:    7-10 (as defined in the curriculum)
Total number of classes / week:     3
Type of subject: elective
Course coordinator: Sándor Nardai MD. PhD
Place of work: SE- Department of Neurosurgery and Neurointervention, Division of Neurointervention
Position: Head of the Division of Neurointervention

Objectives of the course and its place in the medical curriculum:

The purpose of the course is to introduce the dynamically developing methods for diagnosis and treatment of neurovascular disease, illustrated by case demonstrations. Minimally invasive treatment of both ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke is becoming more and more significant by the day and is expected to growth further in the coming years. This evolution generated an increased need for proper understanding of these conditions by the general medical community to secure timely diagnosis and proper patient orientation

Department of Neurosurgery, SE- Department of Neurosurgery and Neurointervention, 1145 Laky Adolf Street 44-46. Emil Pásztor Lecture Hall.

Competencies acquired through the completion of the course:

By the end of the course, students will be able to determine the optimal diagnostic strategy, choose the most appropriate therapeutic method and understand the expected outcome of invasive and conservative therapeutic approach

Prerequisites for course registration and completion:

Macroscopic Anatomy and Embryology II.
Translational Medicine – Pathophysiology II.
Medical Imaging
Emergency Medicine and Oxyology
Permission to take parallel application in the case of Emergency Medicine and Oxyology subject
