MTA – Call for applications for 2026 mobility requests for one-time travel grants under bilateral academic agreements

In order to enhance the international recognition of the Academy and to further develop its international scientific relations, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences provides financial support for mobility, as the sending party, within the framework of its bilateral cooperation agreements.

This support is intended for individual travel by members of its public body that promotes scientific collaboration.

Eligible applicants: members of MTA public body who have obtained a recommendation from one of the scientific sections of the MTA, as well as a letter of invitation issued by the partner institution

Total available budget: HUF 15,000,000

Application deadline: applications may be submitted on a rolling basis until 30 October 2026

Call for Proposals of the Austrian–Hungarian Action Foundation

The Austrian–Hungarian Action Foundation announces a call for proposals to support scientific research and higher education cooperation between Austria and Hungary, as well as scholarship stays in Austria.

Within the framework of the scholarship programme, research, university teaching, and PhD student scholarships in Austria may be applied for in German.

Eligible categories and submission deadlines:

  • Short-term (5-day) scholarships for higher education lecturers and researchers: applications may be submitted on a rolling basis throughout 2026
  • One-month scholarships for higher education lecturers, researchers, and PhD students: 15 May 2026
  • Austrian–Hungarian cooperation project proposals: 15 May 2026

CEEPUS Faculty Mobility

The CEEPUS (Central European Exchange Programme for University Studies) program aims to facilitate student and teacher mobility between cooperating partner institutions in higher education, support the organization of special courses and student excursions, and promote the development of long-term professional collaborations in the region, thereby strengthening Central Europe’s strategic role.

Eligible applicants: Teachers who are citizens of a CEEPUS member country, have an employment relationship with a university or college, and commit to delivering at least 6 teaching hours and/or thesis consultations within a minimum stay of 5 working days.

Funding amount: The scholarship is provided by the host country, and the amount varies by country.

CEEPUS Student Mobility

The CEEPUS (Central European Exchange Programme for University Studies) program aims to facilitate student and teacher mobility between cooperating partner institutions in higher education, support the organization of special courses and student excursions, and promote the development of long-term professional collaborations in the region, thereby strengthening Central Europe’s strategic role.

Eligible applicants: Students with at least two completed semesters and active student status who are citizens of a CEEPUS member country and who meet the additional requirements specified for the respective application categories.

Funding amount: The scholarship is provided by the host country, and the amount varies by country.

CEEPUS Staff Mobility

The CEEPUS (Central European Exchange Programme for University Studies) program aims to support the development of long-term professional collaborations between cooperating partner institutions in higher education, thereby strengthening Central Europe’s strategic role.

The purpose of staff mobility is to gain experience and/or develop skills related to the work of the respective network; to participate in 1–3-day network meetings. Mobility may also include research activities or participation in conferences, but these cannot be the sole purpose of the visit.

The duration of staff mobility is a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 5 working days. Each staff member may participate in a maximum of two mobility periods per year.

Eligible applicants: Citizens of a CEEPUS member country who have an employment relationship with a university or college.

Funding amount: The scholarship is provided by the host country, and the amount varies by country.

Visegrad Grant

Visegrad grants support regional partnerships among NGOs and civil society organizations, public institutions and municipalities, private companies and nonprofit organizations as well as education and research centers that contribute to cooperation in the Visegrad region.

To apply for Visegrad Grants, your project must address one of the objectives of the grant program from the seven focus areas eligible for funding. Education and Capacity Bulding, Innovation, R&D, Entrepreneurship and Social Development are among the seven focus areas.

Eligible applicants: organizations from at least three V4 countries

Funding amount: EUR 25,000 – EUR 35,000

Visegrad Strategic Grants

Strategic Grants support project addressing annual strategic priorities of the Visegrad Group. Strategic priorities are announced annually by the V4 country holding the rotating presidency over the group, which from July 2025 to June 2026 is Hungary.

  • Smart & Sustainable Cities in the V4 Region
  • Facilitating research and development cooperation in the region
