In October 2025, twenty-two candidates from the Center for Translational Medicine defended their Ph.D. theses. The committees for the three-day event included highly respected experts from Hungarian universities and renowned international professors from other countries. After the candidates presented their research published in top-tier Q1 and D1 journals, the committee members agreed that their work was outstanding.
Twenty-two candidates presented their outstanding research at the Center for Translational Medicine this October. The three-day event was preceded by a presentation of Professor Péter Hegyi, director of the Center for Translational Medicine. In his speech, the professor emphasized that learning translational medicine makes doctors more effective in their practice. Professor Hegyi spoke about the achievements of the Center’s former Ph.D. students. Thanks to their findings, clinicians were able to significantly reduce the use of antibiotics in pancreatitis, and use the most effective surgical technique in cholesteatoma.
Healthcare professionals also presented impressive results at this Ph.D. defense. Among them were medical doctors, as well as residents or specialists in psychiatry, cardiology, gastroenterology, gynecology, neurology, clinical care, pediatrics, urology, orthopedics, and dermatology. There was also a medical biotechnologist, a pharmacist, and a dietitian among the candidates. The fact that all of them published their research findings in Q1 or D1 journals reflects the high quality of their academic work. Eleven of the twenty-two candidates were able to publish their results in D1 journals. Two candidates had two research papers published in such journals, and one had three, which is quite an outstanding achievement.
The committee was also satisfied with the candidates’ research work. Its members were highly respected experts from Hungarian universities and renowned international professors from other countries. Among the members were Professor Martin Koltzenburg (MAE) from University College London and Professor Bart CJM Fauser (MAE) from University Medical Center Utrecht, which was a great honor for the students and CTM.
