Their members performed outstandingly at the 9-month Progress Report in June. In addition to their excellent presentations, some of them have already submitted papers. The Gynecology & Urology Group, led by Prof. Nándor Ács and Prof. Péter Nyirády, was named Group of the Month in June.

The Gynecology & Urology Group (Year-1) has fourteen Ph.D. students, many of whom are MD-Ph.D. students or specialists. “Research is progressing well, with students already submitting papers to scientific journals. It’s not just our graduates who are keeping up with academic work, but also our MD-Ph.D. students. However, they are in a more difficult position as sixth-year medical students. In addition to their Ph.D. studies, they also have to do clinical work and prepare for their university graduation. Of course, it is not easy for health professionals who have already graduated, but at least they have the advantage that they can dedicate four days a week to research in the first year of their Ph.D. training and only one day to clinical work. It is also useful that we regularly monitor students’ progress through Progress Reports. This greatly helps producing outstanding scientific results,” says Prof. Péter Nyirády.

The members of the Gynecology & Urology Group conduct research in a wide range of areas. Some are dealing with the treatment of prostate and urachal cancer, or the inflammatory processes of the urinary tract, while others are investigating the treatment of infertility or endometriosis, or the prediction of preeclampsia. There are also students doing research in reconstructive plastic surgery or in other areas.
