Two core-funded PhD and one postdoctoral positions are available in the newly established laboratory of Grzegorz Sumara at the Rudolf Virchow Center, University of Wuerzburg, Germany. The main focus of the lab is to understand the mechanisms of hormonal regulation of liver and adipose tissue metabolism. We are especially interested in unraveling hormonally induced signaling events regulating adaptation of these two organs to feeding and fasting and their implications in development of metabolic diseases like type 2 diabetes.

Ambitious projects are available to investigate the impact of hormonally evoked signaling cascades on different aspects of metabolism using genetic, biochemical and high-throughput screening approaches.

The Rudolf Virchow Center is one of the best German basic research institutes focused on understanding biological mechanisms at the molecular, cellular and organism level and offers state-of-the-art research facilities and a vibrant, international scientific community: http://www.rudolf-virchow-zentrum.de/en/rudolf-virchowcenter. html

Motivated, curious and independent individuals interested in joining us in Wuerzburg should send a single pdf document with a cover letter stating the past and future research interests, CV and publication list to Grzegorz Sumara: g.sumara@gmail.com
