What Is the Mobile Team?
It often happens that a seriously ill child’s condition changes suddenly, or distressing symptoms may develop that require specialist palliative care expertise. This is when the mobile team can be called in. The team consists of specialists who visit children and their families on any hospital unit within the Pediatric Center, including Oncology, the Intensive Care Unit, and Neurology.
How Do We Help?
Involving the mobile team does not mean stopping the child’s current treatment. On the contrary, we work closely with the primary medical team, complementing the care already being provided.
Symptom Relief
When pain, breathlessness, or other distressing symptoms are difficult to manage, we help identify an approach that provides meaningful relief.
Support with Communication
Processing complex medical information can be overwhelming in itself. We help families understand the information they receive and stand beside them when they are facing difficult decisions.
Preparing to Return Home
As discharge approaches, we do not leave the family to work out the next steps alone. In collaboration with the child’s primary hospital unit, we help them prepare for home care – from adjusting medications to coordinating medical equipment and other practical details.
Emotional Presence
Psychological support does not end at the hospital unit’s door. Our psychologists are also available in the inpatient setting to support both children and their parents.
