Laboratory Animal Science Coordination Centre
Laboratory Animal Science Coordination Centre is a unit of the University’s core tasks, which is responsible for all areas related to the use of laboratory animals. Our unit is actively contributing to the University’s teaching and research activities. In particular, its activities include data collection, analysis, design, development, consultancy, strategic decision-making support, which contribute to the efficient use of laboratory animals and the operation of a standardised quality assurance system. Our unit actively contributes to the university’s teaching and research activities to enhance the university’s international competitiveness.
The Laboratory Animal Science Coordination Centre is headed by the director who appointed by the Rector.
The Centre is directly assisted by the Deputy Rector for science and innovation.
The Laboratory Animal Science Coordination Centre, the Centre of Science and Innovation Vice-Rector and Business Develeopment, the Animal Welfare Body and the Chancellery work closely together to carry out all tasks related to laboratory animals.
Tasks of the Laboratory Animal Science Coordination Centre:
- the establishment of a rational operating system for the University’s animal houses, the development of quality assurance system, the development of unified standards and procedures;
- the operational management of certain animal houses as required, in particular the operational management of the central animal house of the NET
- developing a long-term strategy for education and research in the field of laboratory animal science, carrying out independent teaching and research activities;
- data collection, service and analysis in all university areas related to laboratory animal science and the use of laboratory animals;
- preparing plans for innovation and development, providing professional advice, preparing decision-making and technical material on laboratory animal science for other University departments and researchers;
- providing professional advice on the submission of applications for animal ethics approval to the Animal Welfare Body.
- providing professional assistance in the submission of GMO authorisations to the University
