Otology and rhino-laryngology were once independent disciplines. In 1863, Laryngology, led by Imre Navratil and the Otology Clinic, directed by Gyula Böke, had been separate departments; these were merged in 1932. Led by Professor Lénárt, the new Oto-Rhino-Laryngology Department moved to its current facilities on Szigony street in 1936.
