The 32nd Symposium, held from November 11-13, 2024, in Budapest, was a resounding success, bringing together over 800 participants from around the globe.
The event, themed “Network Medicine for Future Healthcare,” featured 35 distinguished speakers, including renowned experts such as Dr. Albert-László Barabási and Dr. Joseph Loscalzo. Hosted by Semmelweis University in partnership with the Network Medicine Alliance.
The Symposium highlighted groundbreaking research in network science, systems biology, and artificial intelligence. Keynote sessions delved into topics like drug repurposing, diseasome and comorbidities, and bioinformatics. Rector Dr. Béla Merkely emphasized the transformative potential of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing complex diseases like cancer and cardiovascular disorders. Vice-Rector Dr. Péter Ferdinandy outlined the university’s strategic initiatives to boost innovation and international cooperation, including flexible doctoral programs and the development of a Science Park. The Symposium successfully fostered knowledge exchange and collaboration, reinforcing Semmelweis University’s position as a leader in advancing network medicine for global healthcare.
