OVERVIEW

The course covers the basics of biostatistical methods commonly used in biomedical and analytical chemistry research.

An in-depth discussion of regression models, with emphasis on nonlinear mixed-effect models will be introduced with practical examples and applications in the R statistical programming language.

The course is combined of 50 % theoretical part and 50 % practical part.

Entry requirements

The course is designed for Students, Ph.D. students and Post-docs with basic knowledge in calculus (limits, differentials, integration, vectors) and some knowledge in coding (R or python) is also preferred.

To follow the course participants will need laptops with R and R Studio (freeware) downloaded.

Applicants are required to pay a registration fee before the course.

Registration fee: 25 EUR

Participants’ limitation: min. 5 – max. 20

Upper Intermediate English knowledge

Learning objectives
  • a fundamental understanding of frequentist approach to biostatistics
  • knowledge of the most common statistics hypothesis tests
  • correct use and interpretation of regression analysis
  • some skills in applying state-of-the-art mixed-effect nonlinear regression models
