OVERVIEW

The course provides a brief survey of the most important official assay methods to characterize drug substances in various pharmacopoeias.

After a short history of the most important pharmacopoeias, the current assay methods of the leading pharmacopoeias of the world (European, Japanese, USP, International) are discussed together with trends toward their harmonization.

Participants of the course will have the opportunity to carry out assay methods in the lab and compare their results using different official monographs for the same drug substance. Emphasis will be on different types of titration methods, often with instrumental (potentiometric or amperometric) end-point detection.

The course consist of 30 % theoretical part and 70 % laboratory practical sessions.

Entry requirements

The course is designed for students and Ph.D. students with basic knowledge of analytical techniques.

The institute provides labcoats, but it is recommended to bring your own labcoat to the lab sessions.

Applicants are required to pay a registration fee before the course.

Registration fee: 50 EUR

Participants’ limitation: min. 4 – max. 20
