During university life, misunderstandings, communication difficulties, or seemingly incompatible expectations can sometimes arise – even between students and supervisors. Handling these issues is often a sensitive and time-consuming task, where an impartial, supportive environment can be beneficial.

Mediation counseling is an alternative dispute resolution method, where an agreement between the parties is facilitated by a third, independent, and neutral person (mediator, conciliator) through a meeting based on mutual listening and understanding.

Petra Macher, mediation counselor and work and organizational psychologist. Drawing on her mediation experience at an American university ombuds office and county courts, she can assist with the following:

  • Resolving cooperation difficulties
  • Listening to and understanding the other party
  • Understanding conflict situations
  • Creating mutually beneficial solutions
