We developed cell-type-specific transcriptomic aging clocks using single-nucleus RNA sequencing of human post mortem prefrontal cortex samples provided by the Hungarian Brain Bank. These clocks accurately predict age and identify distinct aging trajectories in specific brain cell types. Our method also detects accelerated aging in Alzheimer’s disease and schizophrenia, offering insight into differential brain aging across health and disease.

This was an amazing collaborative effort with the labs of Csaba Kerepesi, Johan Jakobsson, Human Brain Bank, and our team, led by outstanding doctoral students Chandramouli Muralidharan and Enikő Zakar-Polyák 🥳👏
