Our Center was awarded the Center of Excellence Title by the European Neuroendocrine Tumor Society (ENETS) in 2019. In Central-Eastern Europe there are only two ENETS CoE in Poland.

Healthcare personnel from the Dept. of Internal Medicine and Oncology, and further departments of Semmelweis University and other Institutions are also involved.

Our CoE mainly deals with gastrointestinal tumors (e.g. small intestine, pancreas, stomach and large intestine), but pulmonary neuroendocrine tumors, and also others are consulted.

Neuroendocrine tumors are consulted within a multidisciplinary tumor (MDT) board that also discusses other tumors beside neuroendocrine tumors (especially adrenal and thyroid).

Somatostatin peptid radionuclide treatment became available in Hungary in 2022, and this is performed within our Department under the guidance of Prof. Peter Lakatos.
