Semmelweis University is not only the oldest medical school in Hungary and one of the largest healthcare providers, but also one of the most important English and German language training institutions in Europe. One third of its students follow the international curriculum, with students coming from over a hundred countries around the world.

All our faculties and doctoral schools offer some form of foreign language training in the field of medicine and health sciences, and we also have off-campus programs in Germany, Romania, Switzerland, Serbia, and Slovakia. Most of the current international students are studying at the Faculty of General Medicine, the Faculty of Dentistry, and the Faculty of Pharmacy. The Faculty of Health Sciences is becoming increasingly involved in international courses, and the András Pető Faculty also offers courses in English. The University also welcomes students from abroad through a number of international programs such as Erasmus, Stipendium Hungaricum, Diaspora and Students at Risk (St@R).

Semmelweis University places great emphasis on the cohesion of its multicultural student community, the integration of international and Hungarian students through multilingual training and information, international events, as well as programs promoting the mutual understanding and approximation of nations and cultures.
