Hey, my name is Everett! I’m a 5th year medical student in the English program and it’s my second year in the mentoring program. When I’m not studying I love reading, playing board games with friends and staying active through hiking and bouldering.
One thing I have learned in my time as a student is that you can always benefit from meaningful interaction with your peers, no matter how complicated or busy life gets. Education (especially in a medical program) never feels like a team effort but in my opinion that is far from the reality. With this in mind, I leapt at the opportunity to support incoming and existing students through the mentoring program. Once I became aware of the new Peer-Led counselling program, it was a natural step for me to take in my efforts to foster a network of support amongst my fellow students. As a group leader I hope to offer students the support and advice which I found so impactful in my own life while also inspiring participants in this program to do the same for their peers.
Hello, my name is Peter. I’m a 5th-year English program medical student. Outside of school, I enjoy going on long walks, cooking, and watching the most peculiar films across every genre. Within medicine, my interest has always been mental health and the many ways it shapes our lives, relationships, and well-being.
I joined the Peer-Led Mental Health Support Group because I believe that no one should have to navigate difficult moments alone. Medical school can be demanding, isolating, and overwhelming at times, and I’ve experienced how crucial it can be to talk openly with another peer who share similar struggle. While professional support is important, I believe that peers can often be each other’s greatest source of understanding, empathy, and strength. As a group leader, my hope is to help create a space where people feel heard, supported, and welcomed exactly as they are.
