We were delighted to welcome our long-time collaborator, Janelle Drouin-Ouellet (Université de Montréal), to Budapest for the 2026 Annual Meeting of the Hungarian Physiological Society (MÉT). Our collaboration dates back to Karolina’s postdoctoral years at Lund University, where she worked closely with Janelle and colleagues on direct neural reprogramming. Since then, Janelle has established her own research group in Montréal focusing on cellular models of aging and neurodegeneration, while our collaboration has continued to grow through shared projects and scientific exchange.
At the meeting, Janelle presented her talk, “Modelling the aging–Parkinson axis using patient-derived cellular systems,” while Karolina gave a presentation entitled “Direct Neural Reprogramming as a Cellular Model of Human Brain Aging and Neurodegeneration.” (https://met2026.hu/index.php#SessionVI) Janelle also visited our laboratory at Semmelweis University, providing an excellent opportunity to discuss ongoing projects and future directions at the intersection of aging, Parkinson’s disease, and human cellular reprogramming.
We are grateful for this inspiring exchange of ideas and look forward to continuing our collaboration in the years ahead. See you again soon at ISSCR in Montréal!
