Roland recently attended the 35th NECTAR Conference in Coimbra, Portugal, where leading experts shared the latest advances in research on neurodegenerative diseases, including Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, as well as emerging therapeutic strategies.

He represented the lab in a Flash Talk session, presenting our latest findings: “Directly reprogrammed human neurons and astrocytes reveal age-related differences in autophagic regulation.” His talk sparked engaging discussions on neuronal aging and autophagy, highlighting the relevance of cell-type-specific models in neurodegeneration research.

While in Coimbra, Roland also visited the Multidisciplinary Institute of Ageing (MIA), where he gave a research talk and had fruitful scientific exchanges with our collaborator Joana Ferreira and her team.
