The dental pulp is an incredibly heterogenous tissue with an unusual embryonic ontology which provides a promising cell source for tissue engineering. Dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) serve as an exciting, easily available cell source for in vitro neuronal reprogramming. In this review, we argue and summarize the previous studies and promising future outlooks including the potential direct neural reprogramming of DPSCs. Enjoy!
