István Hritz is an associate professor and head of Division of Interventional Gastroenterology at the Department of Surgery, Transplantation and Gastroenterology, Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary.
His main interest is the gastrointestinal endoscopy, particularly diagnostic and therapeutic pancreato-biliary endoscopy. As a PhD supervisor, his main topic of clinical research is the role of endoscopy in the diagnosis and therapeutical interventions of pancreato-biliary diseases.
He serves as the director of postgraduate education program of gastroenterology, ERCP and EUS at Semmelweis University. He is a governing board member and the president of the Endoscopy Section of the Hungarian Society of Gastroenterology.
Doctor Hritz has been also involved in international endoscopic educational activities as the chair of the Education Committee and member of the governing board of the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE).
He has been a hands-on trainer in endoscopy as well as an active member of the Guidelines- and Scientific Committee of ESGE.
