András Kállai (MD, PhD) earned his specialist qualification in anesthesiology and intensive therapy in 2010. He works at Semmelweis University, Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy.

Since 2014, Dr Kállai has played a key role in undergraduate education in intensive therapy and anesthesiology, teaching in Hungarian, English, and German and as part of the department’s Education Board. He also participates in several postgraduate courses as a trainer, including the Cadaveric Airway School.

In 2024, he earned his PhD with a thesis titled “A Flow Cytometry-Based Rapid Method for Determining Bacterial Antibiotic Resistance Profiles.” The following year, he obtained the European Diploma in Advanced Critical Care Echocardiography.

Dr Kállai’s main areas of interest and research include airway management in critically ill patients, intensive care echocardiography, and haemostasis. With his colleagues, he is currently developing a novel protocol for individualised, viscoelastometry-guided, echocardiography-controlled thrombolytic therapy for pulmonary embolism.
