The\u00a0TEA-NET Symposium 2026<\/strong>, titled\u00a0\u201cNew Horizons in Translational Sciences\u201d<\/em>, was held from\u00a011 to 13 March 2026 <\/strong>at\u00a0The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK)<\/strong>. The international meeting brought together leading scientists, clinicians and researchers from Europe and Asia to strengthen collaboration in translational science and medicine.<\/p>\n

The symposium was initiated by the\u00a0Section of Basic and Clinical Translational Sciences of Academia Europaea<\/strong>\u00a0and organised within the framework of the\u00a0Translational European-Asian Network (TEA-NET)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The opening session featured welcome remarks by\u00a0Professor Dennis Yuk-ming Lo<\/strong>, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK.\u00a0Professor B\u00e9la Merkely<\/strong>, Rector of\u00a0Semmelweis University<\/strong>, also addressed participants, highlighting the importance of European\u2013Asian scientific cooperation in accelerating the translation of research discoveries into improved patient care.<\/p>\n

The scientific programme focused on the\u00a0Translational Medicine Cycle Model<\/strong>\u00a0and explored recent advances in fields such as the\u00a0gut\u2013microbiome\u2013brain axis, artificial intelligence in medicine, medical robotics, anaesthesiology, musculoskeletal and neurodegenerative diseases, and cardiometabolic disorders<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

As part of the programme,\u00a0Professor Peter Hegyi and his team from Semmelweis University<\/strong>\u00a0delivered a\u00a0Time Management Workshop<\/strong>\u00a0for undergraduate students at the CUHK Faculty of Medicine, introducing practical skills in vision-setting and time planning for young researchers.<\/p>\n

Founded in\u00a02023<\/strong>\u00a0on the initiative of\u00a0Academia Europaea<\/strong>,\u00a0TEA-NET<\/strong>\u00a0aims to strengthen cooperation between European and Asian institutions and to promote the translation of scientific discoveries into clinical practice and societal benefit.\u00a0Semmelweis University plays a key role in coordinating the network\u2019s European activities<\/strong>, while CUHK serves as the Asian coordinating centre.\u00a0\"\" \"\"\"\"<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
