The programme aims to recognise and support outstanding research performance among young scientists, promote the development of independent research careers, and support researchers in their preparation for obtaining the Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (DSc) title. Applications are evaluated through a competitive process involving expert reviews and recommendations from the relevant scientific panels.

The highly competitive nature of the scholarship is reflected in this year’s results: 157 researchers were selected from 766 valid applications in 2026. This year’s scholarship recipients were celebrated at the annual Bolyai Day held at the headquarters of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest on 16 September.

We are particularly proud that two supervisors of the Translational Medicine Programme are among this year’s recipients.
